🦞 Rinse first: Rinse the new sponge under running water briefly to remove dust; then soak it in aquarium water before placing it (to avoid killing bacteria with cold tap shock).
🦞 Install: Place the sponge in the filter tray or housing with the flow-exposed side facing the incoming water.
🦞 Maintenance: Remove and rinse in a bucket of tank water monthly (or when visibly clogged). Don’t use soap — squeeze gently to preserve beneficial bacteria.
